  • Have a sticky issue with a tax return you are preparing? Share your questions with fellow EAs and tax professionals. Come, listen, share, and discover common problems and creative solutions. Joyce Mohr and Scott Alving will answer any of your tax questions. They will be answering all your tax questions that come up during the tax season. Don't miss out on the fun!

    Scott Alving
    Scott graduated from Fitchburg State with 2 Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting & Management. He has held positions as a Staff accountant and controller. In 2003, he got bored with the corporate world and opened a used book store/gaming store in Hudson called “The Spot”.  He then closed it in 2008.

     It Figures Financial Services, his current practice was launched on a part time basis with just a few small clients after the store closed. Scott was also employed by Nancy Goedecke for 7 years. He currently lives in Stow, MA with his partner, 2 sons, a 20’x30’ garden, 22 chickens and 1 cat. 

    Joyce Mohr, EA
    Joyce is the owner of Taxes Plus, a tax preparation and consulting business in Somerville, MA and Rockport, Maine. She is a graduate of Boston University. She began her career in tax by managing a retail tax office for a major US tax preparation company where she also taught continuing education classes to tax preparers in areas including: international, rental and depreciation. Currently she teaches Part II of the Special Enrolled Agent Test Preparation course through MaSEA and is a seasonal software quality assurance analyst for a do-it-yourself tax preparation product. She has been an enrolled agent and a member of  MaSEA since 2007. She is currently a director on the board of the National Association of Enrolled Agents. She has co-founded “Acacia in Kenya” an outreach project that partners with community leaders in Mumias, Western Kenya to care for and educate the community’s high school girls.

    Please note: There will be no board meeting at our March meeting.
